Modern Era, United States, Infantry
The 69th Infantry Regiment was one of the numbered lineages preserved within the Army's twentieth-century organizational system. It reflects the service's practice of maintaining additional regimental identities for wartime growth, later specialization, and historical continuity.
Although it did not remain a widely recognized independent field regiment, its lineage still forms part of the institutional record of the modern Army and of the many units created or preserved for large-scale mobilization.
The 69th Infantry belongs to that broader history of Army depth, flexibility, and lineage preservation.
A dedicated battalion subpage now collects the regiment's known battalion icons and short battalion sketches for the 1st, 2d, and 3d Battalions. Open the 69th Infantry Regiment Battalions page.
